ABOUT M49 BIOPLASTIC
Our Seoul Sunglasses are made from an innovative, bio-based and biodegradable material: a bioplastic called M49.
M49 bioplastic is composed of cellulose acetate (sourced from wood pulp) and a plant-based plasticizer. The resulting formula is primarily made from renewable resources. With 68% of its composition derived from natural origins, M49 is officially classified as a bio-based material.
To be defined as biodegradable, a plastic must reach a 90% biodegradation level within no more than 6 months of incubation. M49 surpasses this threshold, achieving over 90% biodegradation in just 115 days, and is therefore certified as biodegradable (in accordance with standard UNI-EN-ISO 14855-2:2018).
Care instructions
Avoid cleaning your lenses dry. The best option is to clean your lenses with water and a neutral gel or soap. Finally, dry them with a microfiber cloth and avoid rubbing them with paper or tissues, as these materials can damage the surface. This is especially important when there’s dust or sand on the lenses — cleaning them dry in that state could lead to scratches.
Always store your lenses in their microfiber pouch, preferably inside the Everyday Envelope or any other suitable case. This helps prevent scratches from contact with items like keys or coins, and also protects the frame from wear or deformation.
Avoid leaving your lenses exposed to direct sunlight or high temperatures when not in use, as this could cause the lenses or frame to warp or lose effectiveness.
